April 2012
Brothers,
Did you ever read the really important part of the paper, the cartoons, and think that someone is watching you and taking content from your life. Libby & I feel this way quite often. Just the other day I had the trap off the kitchen sink and lying under it when Libby decided to wash her hands. She turned the water on full force and I got an unexpected shower. And sure enough, within a week, we saw the same cartoon in the Post. We were in an elevator and a lady started talking, so we talked back. Come to find out she was talking to her friend on an ear phone. Saw that cartoon about a month later in the Sunday comics. Libby and I were watching the news and she asked me to turn up the volume, since controlling the remote is a guy thing. I pressed buttons again and again with no result. Finally the remote said hello and I was taking to a guy in Des Moines, Iowa. Anyone could confuse the phone with a remote. Anyway that incident showed up the very next day in "Pickles".
On a more serious note, these upcoming months, we will be honoring Father Dwyer, celebrating Deacon Sam’s first Mass as a priest, and on July 1st, seeing one of our own, Father Andy Cravalho perform Mass. And guess what was just published from the Pope: "The Vatican has announced the prayer intentions of Pope Benedict XVI for April 2012. The Pope's general intention is: ‘That many young people may hear the call of Christ and follow Him in the priesthood and religious life.’" No one can tell me that the world, including the Pope, is not watching us and St. Mary Catholic Parish and publishing articles on our experiences. I wonder if this might happen in our own organization.
To that effect, consider this. The Knight Knews will publish a cartoon, article, essay or synopsis of your recruiting efforts. Be they good or bad.
Submit your best story and prizes will be awarded based on which story our Brothers like the best. And by successfully recruiting a Brother and being published in the Knight Knews, you have fulfilled two requirements for Council 3340‘s, #1 in the Gold Division, Golden Knight Award.
All requirements and applications for the award are available for pick-up at any of our meetings.
